If you're looking for a fun and well-run pickleball tournament in Alabama, the recent event hosted by Port City Pickleball at the Daphne courts on the Gulf Coast set a high standard. With smooth scheduling, clean facilities, and plenty of player perks, it was a reminder of why pickleball in Daphne, AL is growing so quickly.

Tournament Format & Play

The organizers kept everything simple and efficient. Each court had a clipboard with scheduled matches, and volunteers collected score sheets to enter them into the scoring system. That meant players could just focus on competing and having fun.

For the 3.5 Ladies Division, two courts were dedicated exclusively to play. The structure made for fair competition and exciting finishes:

Round Robin: One game to 11, win by 2
Quarterfinals: One game to 11, win by 2
Medal Rounds: Best two out of three games to 11, win by 2

Every team had two timeouts per game, keeping things strategic without dragging out matches.

Shoutout to the Champions

I'm extremely proud of how well my partner, Christina Alconcel, and I played, we took home the gold medal in our division! Christina is the owner of 0-0-2 Pickleball, and her energy and leadership were on full display throughout the tournament.

Even more exciting — several members of her 0-0-2 crew also competed in the event, and every single one of them medaled! An incredible showing by a tight-knit, talented group of players who continue to elevate the game on and off the court.
